Our staff member Nikeisha's daughter Zahra was diagnosed with Leigh’s Syndrome a mitochondria disease at 16 months old after going through 2 months in and out of the hospital with breathing complications.
She sadly passed away on the 14th of June 2023 2 weeks after we got her diagnosis, due to respiratory failure as a result of Leigh’s Syndrome.
Zahra was such a happy baby, she loved to talk and smile at anyone she was around. Her favourite words to say was “who’s that” and “Mama”. Her favourite people were her Mama and Baba. She was so loving and affectionate to everybody who met her.
Anyone that had the pleasure of knowing Zahra instantly fell in love with her. Until her last breath she kept her little personality and showed us so much bravery and strength.
