In memory of Kyle

halfway!

 So due to my terrible health,  we decided it's safer to space it out rather than 35k in one day.  my husband and daughter are walking with me,  and as of Sunday the 25th, we've walked 17.5km.

I suck at maths

As my husband ever so kindly pointed out,  it's not 7 laps. . it's 14 laps.  I've just jumped into the deep end! Haha! 

I'm raising vital funds for mito!

Kyle George Tilson was a mito warrior.  He passed away 15th June 2019, age 4 years 10 months.  He was a cheeky boy who loved life and constantly amazed doctors with his progress.  unfortunately his little lungs couldn't recover from pneumonia. 

My name is Emma,  and I've decided to walk 35kms, which is 7 laps of our local Yowie park here in Kilcoy, following the map set out by our local parkrunners (their course is 5km).  I want to raise awareness,  as well as money for a cure.  Without Kyle in my life I wouldn't have known about Mito.

I aim to do this on Sunday the 25th of August,  2019, that should give ample time to reach my goal and get fit!

I’m fundraising to help the Mito Foundation support the mito community whilst seeking a cure.  Mitochondrial disease (mito) is a rare life threatening disease that can affect anyone at any age.

The Mito Foundation provides information and support services to connect mito patients and their families to help them feel less alone while funding research to develop meaningful treatments and cures.

What are Mitochondria?

    Mitochondria are tiny organelles found in almost every cell in the body.
    They are known as the "powerhouse of the cell."
    They are responsible for creating more than 90 percent of cellular energy.
    They are necessary in the body to sustain life and support growth.
    They are composed of tiny packages of enzymes that turn nutrients into cellular energy.
    Mitochondrial failure causes cell injury that leads to cell death. When multiple organ cells die there is organ failure.
