Raising vital funds for mito! Help me, help Zoe!
Hi, I’m Jemma and I'm fundraising for the Mito Foundation. In the theme of "The Bloody Long Walk" I am hosting "Zoe's Bloody Long Walk" around Lake Bonney in the Riverland. My sister Zoe was diagnosed when she was 8 years old with Mitochondrial Disease (Mito) Kearns Sayre syndrome (KSS) and she was in hospital for a long time while doctors were determining the diagnosis. Still from today she travels 2.5hrs for doctors’ appointments sometimes it's weekly. I’ve always wanted to do something to help raise money and awareness to people that have the Mito Disease. My fundraising goal was set at $7k, but we need to raise as much as we can to help research into this disease that affects our every day lives.
I’m doing a fundraiser a 20km walk, run, cycle option around the Lake as well as shorter walking options being 6km and 2km (2km is wheelchair, walker and pram friendly). This event will be held on the 28th of April 2024 starting the 20km at 9am, and the 6km and 2km at 10:30am at the Barmera Club. Entry fee for each participant is $10. All the money that is raised will go straight to the Mito foundation.
This event aims to transform the research into diagnosis and treatments of Mito disorders. You can help too, by donating to my fundraiser. Together we can create real change for the Mito community.
