Ziggy's Story...
Ziggy was a spirited little boy whose energy, curiosity and cheeky smile filled the lives of those around him with joy. He approached the world with wonder and warmth, forming deep bonds with the people who loved him and leaving an unforgettable impression on everyone lucky enough to know him.
When Ziggy was just six months old, he was diagnosed with Pearson’s Syndrome, an exceptionally rare mitochondrial disorder. From that point forward, Ziggy and his parents faced a journey no family ever expects — one marked by uncertainty, hospital visits and extraordinary challenges. Through it all, Ziggy’s spirit shone brightly. He continued to explore, laugh and connect with the world around him, bringing light and love into every moment he could.
Ziggy died peacefully at four years old, held in the love of his parents.
His loss is felt deeply by his family, friends and the wider community whose lives were touched by his courage and joyful spirit. While nothing can lessen the heartbreak of losing such a precious child, this page honours Ziggy’s life and seeks to turn grief into meaningful action — helping drive research toward cures for mitochondrial disease and ensuring families facing mito receive the support they need through the work of the Mito Foundation.

Its only a small amount but no amount can say thank you for the support you gave Sarsha and Ziggy and I truly hope one day you get the answers to this horrible disease.
